A former miner of Polish descent - Faustin Wirkus - the administrator of the island, befriends its inhabitants. Named king by the local community, he tries to help the island. However, his plan to publicize the situation on Gonâve brings unexpected results. The film is inspired by the true story of Faustin Wirkus.
