The couple, along with other prominent figures in the Recife society, meet at the night gatherings of the Pernambuco Club. One night, a fierce fight breaks out between Rodolfo and a rival. Later, Rodolfo is wrongly convicted of a crime and is sentenced to serve time in Fernando de Noronha. However, he escapes from prison determined to seek revenge.
