At the age of 26, he left a small village in Piedmont to become a missionary in South America. In 1910, he reached Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, which were still largely unexplored. He climbed mountains, discovered fjords and glaciers, and gave them names. Faced with the anguish and pain of the disappearance of the last Indios, he entrusted his testimony to the images captured on his photographic plates or on the frames of his film 'Terre Magellaniche'.
